Assoc. Prof. Biira Saphina Appointed as the 1st Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs

Busitema University is proud to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Biira Saphina as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Prof. Saphina brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, having previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. Her dedication to the university is further evident through her prior role as the Deputy Director of Quality Assurance. Prof. Saphina is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics within the Faculty of Science and Education at Busitema University, and her impressive academic background includes a PhD in Physics with a specialization in Materials Science and Nuclear Technology from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

With a Master's degree in Physics from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Gulu University, Prof. Saphina's academic journey reflects her commitment to excellence in education and research. Moreover, her additional qualifications as an M&E Practitioner and a Quality Assurance Manager in Higher Education, coupled with her extensive training in Public Administration and Financial Management, position her as a well-rounded leader capable of further advancing the academic excellence and institutional growth of Busitema University. With a notable track record of over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and her contributions as a reviewer in Materials Science and Radiation Sciences, Prof. Saphina is primed to play a pivotal role in fostering academic excellence and research at our institution.
