In a signicant step to strengthen our global collaboration, representatives from Busitema University's Faculty of Engineering and Technology, including Dr. Daniel Otim, the Dean of the faculty, and Eng. Dr. Joseph Ddumba Lwanyaga, the Head of the Water Resources Engineering Department, yesterday met with a delegation from Shangdong Water Conservancy, China. The productive technical meeting resulted in several exciting agreements aimed at strengthening the academic ties between the two institutions. One of the key highlights of the meeting was the decision for Chinese partners to provide training to their Ugandan counterparts in selected courses and subjects, paving the way for the launch of a Diploma in Hydraulics Engineering. The training will include online theory sessions and practical components that will either be conducted in China or facilitated by an expert sent to Uganda. Both institutions are set to collaborate on developing the program's curriculum, with student enrollment following the accreditation of the program. Moreover, the two teams will be jointly working on the development of a PhD program in Water Resources Engineering. To commemorate this partnership, a commemorative plaque summarizing the collaboration was shared for installation at Busitema University. This meeting ended with the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two institutions, setting the stage for a promising future of academic collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of water resources engineering.
