Busitema University Collaborates with Tsinghua University's Vanke School of Public Health to Advance Public Health Training in Uganda

Busitema University has held a collaboration engagement meeting with Vanke School of Public Health(VSPH), Tshingua University - China with the aim of building high-standard Public Health training in Uganda and the world at large. The Busitema University Delegation was welcomed by the Associate Dean of VSPH Professor Kaibo Wang, together with Professor Guangio Li, Jiaxuan Yang, Shasha Tao & Yuran Cao.

 At this meeting the Head of Department of Public Health Professor David Mukunya has been represented by Dr Samuel Baker Obakiro who made a presentation on the collaboration areas of focus: Health Policy and System Innovation Research, Disease Control and Prevention, management of Big Data in Health Care,  as well as Global Health Governance.

During this meeting, the Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Waako reaffirmed the University readiness to improve training and research in the field of Public Health. He emphasized the collaboration to figure out avenues to address communicable Disease Control, Climate Change and Population Health, Health Engineering, Maternal and Child Health, mental and Psychological health , Health Policy and Technology Evaluation as well as Global Epidemic Intelligence Monitoring.         
                                               
Another collaboration engagement was held with the school of Phamacetical Sciences and while representing the School Dean Professor Feng Qian, Professor Ligong Chen welcomed the team from Busitema University and their commendable work in drug production and therapeutics in Uganda especially the viral relief drug TAZCOV. He confirmed and assured the University collaboration guarantee in the fields of training new generation Phamacetical professionals, development of Innovative drugs and therapeutics as well as Phamacetical innovation and industrial upgrade.

Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Waako assured the team at Tshingua University of his assurance to assimilate the world's cutting-edge scientific and technological means to enhance scientific research more efficiently in drug production and management and confirmed Busitema University assurance to promote this research led development in fighting world disease with drug and vaccine migration programs available from the two institutions.                
The other members from Busitema University included Dr Charles Muweesi, Assistant Director-Directorate of Institutional Advancement, Dr Richard Oriko, and Ms Brenda Nakazibwe from STI-OP.
