Epi Fellows, under the IDEA Fellowship Programme (EDCTP-2: CSA2020E-3126)

The Epi Fellows, under the IDEA Fellowship Programme (EDCTP-2: CSA2020E-3126) which is led by Busitema University have successfully organised and delivered on a 2 day conference on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases as part of their training, engagement with academia, scientists, policy makers and international organisations. Professor Peter Olupot-Olupot is the coordinator of the IDEA Fellowship Programme and the Patron of the annual conferences under this programme.It is the first such annual conference organised under Busitema University. 

 The University hopes to impact on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases through capacity building. While on training the Epi Fellows respond to infectious disease outbreaks under the guidance of the Ministry of Health. 

New networks were built during the conference which attached about 140 participants who attended either online or physically.

Professor Peter Olupot-Olupot has promised the second edition of the conference in September 2024.
