On the 19th of August 2023, the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Science marked yet another significant milestone as it warmly welcomed a new cohort of graduate students at the Jinja Study Center. This auspicious event saw the orientation of 25 eager and promising students into the academic fold of the University.
The orientation session was graced by a distinguished panel of facilitators, including the esteemed Head of Department, Mr. Kakungulu Moses, who judiciously elucidated the academic roles and responsibilities expected of these budding scholars. Professor Elly Sabiti, a venerable figure in academia, provided invaluable insights into the pivotal role that graduate students play in advancing the realm of research.
Furthermore, Mr. Ntaga Eriya, the erudite campus librarian, expounded on the indispensable role that the University library plays in supporting not only teaching but also research and outreach endeavors.
Adding to the reservoir of knowledge, the students were privileged to receive guidance and wisdom from Deputy Dean Dr. Masaba Sowedi and Dr. Vinny Natukunda, both of whom shared their profound experiences and advice.
The culmination of this enlightening orientation session was marked by an address from the distinguished Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Alice Nakiyemba. She meticulously outlined the intricate management structure of both the University and the Faculty, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the administrative framework within which they will pursue their academic journeys.
