Moi University Kenya

In January 1981 a Presidential Working Party chaired by the distinguished Canadian academic, Dr. Colin B. Mackay, was convened to prepare detailed recommendations for a second university in Kenya and their report was presented to the then President, H. E. Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi in September 1981. The report strongly recommended that the new university should have a distinct bias towards technology.

In October 1983, a report titled “Project for the Second University” was prepared by a joint Kenyan and UNESCO team. As a result, Moi University was established by the Government in mid-1984 and building work on the site near Eldoret, commenced in the following year. The university Administration moved from its temporary offices in Eldoret to present main campus (Kesses), Uasin Gishu County on July 29, 1986.
 

Agrostudies in International  Centre for Agricultural  Studies, Israel

Agrostudies is an international training center which provides a program for agricultural education in Israel to interns from developing countries around the world. The program, which was built with the support and oversight from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture, focuses on capacity building through practical and professional knowledge transfer in the field of agriculture, and promotes food security around the world by providing the participants with a creative, practical and dynamic educational framework.
 

Peoples’ Friends University of Russia

The University was founded on 5th February, 1960 by the USSR Government. On 22nd February, 1961, the RUDN University was named after Patrice Lumumba — one of the symbols of the African peoples’ fight for independence. Students and academics could be free to pursue their learning, teaching, and research activities at , without being subject to political context, but firmly directed to the grand principles of friendship and mutual support. On February 5, 1992, by the decision of the Government of Russia, the University was renamed to Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. March 23, 2023, V.Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, signed Order No. 313 on renaming the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and returning the name of Patrice Lumumba. Corresponding changes were made in the Charter of the University.

Common Wealth of Learning

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) was established in 1987 by Commonwealth Heads of Government “… to create and widen access to opportunities for learning, making use of the potential offered by distance education and by the application of communication technologies to education.” (Memorandum of Understanding on the Commonwealth of Learning)


 

International Outreach Programmes, St. Joseph’s Health System of Hamilton, Ontario & McMaster University 

The St. Joseph’s Health System International Outreach Program (IOP) has been enhancing global healthcare through committed partnerships since 1986 when the program was started by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton who began a small partnership with the government of Dominica.

Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education, & Research for Development (NORHED) 

NORHED is the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development. NORHED aims to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions in developing countries to produce higher-quality graduates, more and higher-quality research, and more inclusive higher education. Higher education and research are priority areas of Norway’s development cooperation policy. Sound, strategic investments in higher education and research lay the foundation for development of countries’ intellectual resources, competent workforces, visionary leaders, gender equality, human rights and democracy.

University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania  

The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is the oldest and premier public university in Tanzania. It is situated 13 kilometers on the western side of the city of Dar es Salaam, occupying 1,625 acres on the observation hill, famously known as Mlimani in Kiswahili. It was established on 25th October 1961 as the University College Dar es Salaam (UCD), an affiliate college of the University of London. It was temporarily hosted in the premises belonging to Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) located in Lumumba Street, Dar es Salaam from its establishment up to 1964 when it was moved to the current location at the Hill. At its inception, it had only one faculty, the Faculty of Law, with 13 students among them one female, Julie Manning. In 1963, it became a constituent college of the University of East Africa together with Makerere University College in Uganda and Nairobi University College in Kenya. UDSM became a full-fledged university on 1st July 1970 through Act No. 12 of 1970.

International Institute of Health Sciences, Uganda

The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) was established in 1998 by its first two founders and Directors-Professor Wilton Sebastian Kezala and his wife Ms. Margaret Taitika Kezala Jinja Municipality. They were later joined by Mr. Sam Muwumba (RIP), Fr. Peter Gerald Picavet, Mr. Charles Isabirye, Ms. Florence Kisubi and Dr. Wilson Kisubi to make a total of seven directors. In 2001, The Institute was classified as a Medical Institute and given registration No. PMS/1/27 by the Ministry of Education and Sports In 2004, and was issued an operational license No. MoESTS/BTVET/140 by the Ministry of Education Science Technology and Sports(MoES) together with the Nurses and Midwives council.

University of Antwerp, Belgium

The University of Antwerp is a major Belgian university located in the city of Antwerp. The official abbreviation is UAntwerp. The University of Antwerp has about 20,000 students, which makes it the third-largest university in Flanders. The University of Antwerp is characterised by its high standards in education, internationally competitive research and entrepreneurial approach. It was founded in 2003 after the merger of three smaller universities.
 

University of Juba, Southern Sudan

University of Juba (Arabic: جامعة جوبا‎) is a Public University located in Juba, South Sudan, founded in 1975 in response to the need for Higher Education in Southern areas of Sudan. Due to the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983 – 2005), the university relocated to Khartoum, for safety of staff, students and infrastructure. In 2006, the government at that time agreed to change the name of the University to Juba National University. Following the attainment of independence by South Sudan in July 2011, the University relocated back to Juba, where it was founded. The University gives instruction in the English language.

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, Finland

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is a multi-disciplinary and an international higher education institute of over 6,700 students and over 500 employees. In its operating area on the west coast of Finland, it is a significant creator of experts as well as a developer, a propeller of internationalisation and a promoter of entrepreneurship.

Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic

The Technical University of Liberec is a university in the city of Liberec, Czech Republic. The university has undergone great transformation in its over sixty-year history. When it was founded, it was called the Institute of Mechanical Engineering in Liberec, and its original classrooms were located in the attics of the F. X. Šalda Grammar School. These later served as accommodation for teachers, and it was here that the first plans and ideas arose concerning the later form and direction of the college. The first 259 students were admitted on October 1, 1953. Today, the university has seven faculties and one specialized institute: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Textile Engineering, Faculty of Science-Humanities and Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Arts and Architecture, Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Inter-Disciplinary Studies, Faculty of Health Studies, Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation

Mekelle University Ethiopia

Mekelle University is found at the town of Mekelle in Tigray region of Northern Ethiopia, at a distance of 783 Kilometers from the Ethiopian capital. The merger the two former colleges: Mekelle Business College and Mekelle University College established the University in May, 2000 by the Government of Ethiopia (Council of Ministers, Regulations No. 61/1999 of Article 3) as an autonomous higher education institution. The two colleges have their own historical developments after beginning from scratch, and have also experienced exhausting ascends and descends, with voluminous relocations from place to place.
 

Suresh Gyan Vihar University, India

Suresh Gyan Vihar University (SGVU) is a not-for-profit autonomous private university[2] located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. In 2017, the university became the first private university in Rajasthan to be awarded an 'A' grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.[3] The university was established through the Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur Act (Act no. 16 of 2008) of the government of Rajasthan. Its predecessor institution, Gyan Vihar College, Jaipur, had been in existence since 1999. Its parent institution, Sahitya Sadawart Samiti, was founded in 1938. Suresh Gyan Vihar University was also granted with NIRF ranking in the year 2021[4] in the 150-200 band

The International  Centre of Insect Physiology & Ecology (ICIPE), Kenya

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), stands as the enduring legacy of the late internationally renowned Kenyan scientist, Prof. Thomas Risley Odhiambo.icipe's mission is to help alleviate poverty, ensure food security and improve the overall health status of peoples of the tropics, by developing and extending management tools and strategies for harmful and useful arthropods, while preserving the natural resource base through research and capacity building. The Centre's vision is to pioneer global science in entomology, to improve the well being and resilience of people and the environment to the challenges of a changing world, through innovative and applied research, alongside deep exploratory study, impact assessment, evaluation and sustainable capacity building.
 

The University of the Free State, South Africa 

The University of the Free State (UFS) has a proud history as one of the oldest, most respected institutions of higher education in South Africa. It opened its doors in Bloemfontein in 1904 as the Grey University College, with six students in the Humanities. Today it is a multi-campus institution, with two diverse campuses in Bloemfontein and one in Qwaqwa in the scenic Eastern Free State, accommodating more than 40 000 students in its seven faculties, with an increasing number of international students and associates, and an ever-widening scope of active involvement in and contribution to its surrounding communities.

Somalia University

Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI)

Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI) is a semi-autonomous academic research institute within the Makerere University College of Health Sciences. MLI works in partnership with a number of local and international organisations/ universities to provide specialized clinical care to the people of Uganda as well as designing and implementing interventions to improve lung health.

National Fisheries Resources Research Institute (NaFIRRI), Uganda

NaFIRRI is one of the seven public National Agricultural Research Institutes (NARIs) under the policy guidance and co-ordination of the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) which was established under the National Agriculture Research Act of 2005. NaFIRRI headquarters are located along plots 39-45, Nile Crescent & Plots 28-32, Oboja road in Jinja opposite the wagon ferry terminal while the Aquaculture Research and Development Centre is located at Kajjansi, 12km along Kampala-Entebbe Highway.
 

Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (MAAAIF)

Agriculture remains the major source of livelihood in Uganda. According to the Uganda National Household Survey (UNHS) 2016/17, the bigger proportion of the working population is engaged in agriculture, forestry and fishing (65%). Among the females in the working population, 70% are engaged in agriculture compared to 58% of the males. Furthermore, 38% of persons in employment were in paid employment with a higher proportion of males (46%) compared to females (28%). The Agricultural sector accounted for the largest share of employment (36%).The agriculture sector had a total contribution to GDP at current prices of 24.9 percent in the FY 2016/17 compared to 23.7 percent in FY 2015/16. The food crop sub sector registered the highest contribution within the agricultural sector of 13.6 percent in FY 2016/17, an increase from 12.1 percent in FY 2015/16
