The African Continental Conference on Basic Sciences for Transformation organized by UNESCO as one of the conferences of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD).

The two day conference from 13 to 14 June 2023, was graced by international delegates, notably senior representatives of UNESCO, TWAS, ICTP, and OWSD, scientists and researchers including early career scientists from other African countries, including Uganda.

The AfricAI Conference 2023 is currently taking place in Kigali! Dr. Godliver Owomugisha and Dr. Rose Nakasi, our AI research scientists from Busitema University, have participated in this conference. The event has brought together AI enthusiasts, researchers, professionals, and policymakers from various parts of Africa with the shared goal of advancing a responsible and open AI ecosystem.

This is to inform all candidates who qualified for conferment of Degrees and Award of Diplomas & certificates of Busitema University that the University will be celebrating its 13th Graduation ceremony on Friday 16th June 2023 starting at 10:00 a.m, at the Gymnasium, Busitema Campus in Busia District.
Resty Nabaterega, supervised by Dr. Cigdem Eskicioglu, defended and past her dissertation defence titled “Lab-scale optimization and process modelling of anaerobic fermentation for maximizing volatile fatty acids production from municipal sludge” in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering of University of British Columbia.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Paul Waako is on a three-day working visit to the Open University, United Kingdom. he has held a number of discussions with the team behind the Open Extended Reality program (Open XR) and discussions centered on how Busitema University can build capacity and embrace extended reality for training.
