AICAD: A Beacon of Hope for Human Capacity Development in East Africa

In a continuous move by the Vice Chancellor and his top management team to formally welcome and admit new first-year students to their respective campuses, today marked a significant occasion as they convened at Namasagali Campus. During this gathering, the Vice Chancellor addressed the evolving role of students within the twenty first century academic landscape, delivering a powerful message that resonated with the incoming students and staff alike.

In a significant development in the global health research sector, Dr. Michael Makanga has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking. He is set to assume his new role on November 16, 2023.

A welcoming and joyful admission ceremony was held at Busitema University to formally welcome the first-year students to the Faculty of Health Sciences. Members of the university administration attended the ceremony and gave the new students a sincere welcome. Students received education on a number of important topics related to their time at university at the ceremony. They were first and foremost informed that their position as students had changed, placing an emphasis on participation in the learning process.

In a notable event this afternoon, the Faculty of Science and Education at Busitema University witnessed the commencement of its year-one admission ceremony. The proceedings were presided over by the esteemed Vice Chancellor and attended by distinguished members of the top management, including the Academic Registrar.

Busitema University is proud to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Biira Saphina as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Prof. Saphina brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, having previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration.

Following the Search Process, Busitema University is delighted to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Fadhiru Pakoyo Kamba (PhD) as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. Prof. Kamba brings a wealth of expertise to this role, with a strong background in pharmaceuticals management, pharmaceutical regulations, and molecular biology. With his extensive experience as a healthcare practitioner, specializing as a Pharmacist, Prof.

The Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Club at Busitema University's Faculty of Health Sciences has won the sought-after award at the Antimicrobial Resistance Championship 2023, a resounding triumph for public health awareness. This distinguished award not only recognises the club's members' devotion and hard work, but it also emphasises the urgency of addressing the growing global health danger posed by antibiotic resistance.

Busitema University, in partnership with Cyber School Technologies and with generous funding from the Mastercard Foundation, has successfully concluded a transformative two-day training event on E-Learning and Learning Management Systems on September 26th, 2023.

A robust policy is an important pillar to any successful intervention. Today, BU has kicked-off the process of formulating an e-learning policy which will feed into the existing ODL policy (with amendments) to create a robust ODeL policy for the university.
